Inspiration from Lillies

Hey Royals!
You don't need a new year to make a life changing resolution.
I buy myself flowers very often (because I'm worth it!)
They can invigorate and enliven my mood and cause me to rethink my modus operandi.
I think if a flower can bloom with some sun and water-- surely I can too!
Today in this beautiful & sunny 92º NY weather,
I choose to bloom and be productive!

Esoteric Symbolism of the Lily
Development • Growth • Progress • Freedom • Purity

So be inspired!
By my flowers or Buy yourself a bundle!
Watch it bloom & I'll watch you bloom!

Shopping in My Closet

What's up, Royals!
I took a trip to my local GAP
and found this cool blue and cream midi skirt.
I didn't like the fit, so I took it to my local tailor
and had the side slits sewn up & the hem narrowed.
Now, time to style it!
It would easily go with a white button up, but!
it's 80º in New York-- I need a tee!
Searched through my closet and found this one!
I bought it 5 years ago in Connecticut, never wore it and
here it matches this skirt!
Has that ever happened to you?!
Separately purchased pieces that go perfectly together?
Completed the look with my Lola Shoetique
Legendary Booties// Thanks for the discount @GriseldaMUA!
Stay Fashionable, Royals!

Pray for Charleston

I was born on a Sunday morning to a pastor and first lady--
That Sunday evening, my father was at church with a copy of my footprints!
For our entire childhood, my sister and I were in every service, every rehearsal and every meeting.
These church shootings are hard-hitting for me,
simply because that could have been my father.
My father was conducting Bible study at the same time in Brooklyn, NY.
Many of my dearest friends and family were in church services last night
across the nation and across the world.
My heart aches at the loss of these faithful 9.
We know Bible Study always draws a smaller number of members
and they are all the earnest students of the Word... old and young...
Hate crimes against black people is by no means a new phenomenon;
It just had a recent surge of occurrences.
I stand boldly with campaigns that emphasize that
Black Lives Matter.
Black Lives Matter when police officers take them.
Black Lives Matter when fellow black men take them.
Black Lives Matter when random white men take them.

As a church girl, I pray for the protection of my father, my preacher friends, church members, church visitors and future church goers.
Signed,
Queen Es

Drinks set the tone:
I'm having one of my go-to's--
A Virgin Mojito
(I'm driving tonight)

Last year, I was in Antigua for my birthday and fell in love with lobster.
It's one of the meals I like to try all over the world!
Any suggestions  on where I can find the best lobster?
My appetizer was this lobster roll--
I didn't have the bread that it came with.
Somehow I convinced myself that not having the bread will help me be bikini ready! Lol

And here!
Another All-Time Fave--
Steak! Well done! & Shoe string fries!
The side salad is laced in a heavenly vinegarette! Delish!
The two small dishes were filled with ketchup & basil mayo
(even though basil isn't my favorite herb, it paired nicely with the steak.

Boost Your Ambition!

Good Day, my Royal Family!
When I was a little girl, my parents used every opportunity possible
to help my sister and me grasp the concept and importance of
ambition.
Some of the stories are deeply nested in our Jamaican culture and lingo
Maybe one day I will share them with u... Over tea.
And some of them are quotes that I recite and reread whenever I need a push.
Here are a few quotes I like to refer to:

Ambition is the desire to go forward & improve one's condition.
To be ambitious is to be great in mind & soul.
To want that which is worth while & strive for it.
- Marcus Garvey

Women who seek to be equal to men
Lack Ambition.
- Marilyn Monroe

Start where you are.
Use what you have.
Do what you can.
- Arthur Ashe

A woman on her mission
Has no time for
Competition.
- Nisha Woodley

The question isn't who is going to let me,
It's who is going to stop me!
-Ayn Rand

Yu muss have ambition, man!

Opinions... Do they really matter?

A few weeks ago, I had a talk with a very special man in my life--
I asked him about how people's opinions affected him.
His answer:
It doesn't!
A moment of transparency: When people would talk about me or someone I love,
it would anger me so much that I would want to attack
& respond to each person with specificity.
My friend said that people will always find criticism in what you do or don't do,
so you might as well do whatever you feel is right.
After talking to him,
I realized that no one is worth that much from me!
Why come down to their level?
I promise you, that day,
I altered my attitude toward naysayers!

"There comes a point when you have to realize that you'll never be good enough for some people. The question is: is that your problems or theirs?"

Class of 2015: Career Day!

Royals!
Over the past month, I've been given the prestigious opportunity
to speak at a few schools for Career Day!
I find these occasions so honorable because I am an entrepreneur,
still on the rise to greater.
My presentation to these princes and princesses were different from every other presenter.
I showed them that a money making career is possible: even from your hobbies!
Of course, I'm an advocate for education: I have 2 degrees!
However, I am also a supporter for people creating their own path!
I shared that most successful people had unsuccessful years.
And in the words of Jay-Z: The genius thing they did was to never give up.
I'm one of them who won't give up!
Meeting these youngsters were so inspiring
because they were so eager to learn about what makes 'a grown up' happy every day
and how they can achieve that happiness.
I hope I was influential in showing them my way.
My aspiration in life is that not only will I continue to aspire to greatness and achieve it,
but to one day hear:
They did something because they were inspired by me!
So THANK YOU
P.S. 233 Langston Hughes and Mr. Andre Gordon and Ms. Esmerelda Price
and
I.S. 285 Meyer Levin and Mr. Robert Samuels (Bobby Trendz)

And remember folks:
PASSION IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HAVING A JOB OR HAVING A CAREER!

Queen of Shade

Royals,
I have another confession:
I have an obsession with sunglasses!
I own upwards of 30 pairs
and YES, I need each one and I keep them ALL in rotation.
Storage was becoming a problem, so I created this!

Picture
A SHADY BOARD!
Picture
STEP 1: Gather your materials! Poster Board, Twine, Ruler, Pencil, Knife (or Scissors) I used the ruler to be sure I cut the poster board in a straight line. I used the pencil to make that straight line... Next Step!
Picture
STEP 2: I used the knife (pictured ahead) to make short slits into both sides of the poster board.. These slits serve as a resting area for the twine, so there's no slippage! Next Step!
Picture
Here's what it looks like when it's all done! No particular order to wrapping the twine! and then I made a couple holes at the top of the board to make it easy to hang!
My collection of sunglasses include Forever 21 and ALDO, to Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford!
They serve as much needed protection against the sun,
but I also have sensitive eyes that get irritated from sun exposure,
some bad lighting and when I'm tired.

I hope you enjoyed my DIY!
Try it!
Let me know how it works out for you!
